The Grower Relations Representative will cover the Monterey County region and will be responsible for locating and sourcing grapes for premium wine programs while maintaining relationships with growers and monitoring all aspects of grape production. Works with growers to develop contract terms and serves as the company point of contact for the growers. Driving is required on average 3-4 days per week. 

What You Will Do:

  • Functions as a liaison between winery and grape growers; develops business relationships that will be mutually beneficial.
  • Develops and maintains vineyard records on cultural practices, yields, and grape quality.
  • Maintains grape availability list to enable sourcing when required for the appropriate quality and quantity.
  • Monitors and reports on grape ripening status.
  • Monitors all aspects of crop development and forecasts crop tonnages.
  • Coordinates scheduling and delivery of grapes from the field to winery.
  • Travels to various vineyard sites to meet with growers.
  • Negotiates basic grower contract terms.
  • Initiates, implements, and manages short term projects.
  • Ensures application of policies and procedures; makes recommendations for change, and implements approved changes.
  • Ensures budgetary compliance.
  • Monitors the performance of contracted growers and monitors their application of procedure; reports issues to supervisor.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Plant Science, Viticulture, Land Resource Management, Forestry Resource Management, Ag Business, Enology, Winemaking, or Business Administration; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of agriculture, ranch/vineyard management or winemaking experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire. 
  • Required to work long hours during peak season.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Plant Science, Viticulture, Land Resource Management, Forestry Resource Management, Ag Business, Enology, Winemaking, or Business Administration plus 2 years agriculture, ranch/vineyard management, or winemaking experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Grower Relations experience.
  • Wine grape experience.
  • Experience negotiating terms of contracts.
