As a Senior Manager for Category and Lifestyle Public Relations, you will lead the strategic planning and execution for category and lifestyle public relations and communications across multiple brands for three Business Units. You will provide ‘best-in-class’ thought leadership and subject matter expertise to drive brand equity, category influence and brand performance. You will work closely with executive leadership, stakeholders, and BU leadership to ensure brand messaging and company image is represented positively. You will oversee both internal and external public relations activities ensuring brand consistency across all editorial communications, media and lines of businesses.

 

What You Will Do

 

  • Builds and leads a modern, best-in-class category & lifestyle public relations and influencer marketing discipline that builds cultural relevance and positive reputation for priority E&J Gallo brands: Develops strategic framework for planning PR and influencer marketing initiatives, creates and improves ways of working (in a hybrid in-house + agencies model) and implements best-in-class measurement & evaluation standards.
  • Leads a multi-location based team of communications professionals managing multi-channel, multidisciplinary campaigns, including media relations, influencer marketing, and other third-party endorsements relevant to the consumer and key shareholders.
  • Guides brand teams to identify tastemakers / influential voices that are relevant to their target audiences and leads the development of strategies for Gallo brands to win with such voices.
  • Manages PR agencies for select campaigns that require external support: partners with brand marketing to draft best-in-class agency briefs, oversees plan development, provides feedback and approvals, and ensures positive client-agency relationship.
  • Leads planning, preparation and dissemination of publicity and good-will information concerning the organization and its brands in all appropriate media channels.
  • Builds and sustains working relationships with brand marketing teams, cross-functional peers and BU leadership to sustain and grow communications disciplines and capabilities to meet business needs.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with category and lifestyle media ensuring desired messaging and direction of the company’s image is represented and a positive corporate and brand image is being conveyed by outlets.
  • Oversees and provides governance on standardization of PR/Communications metrics and analytics across internal Gallo teams and all external agencies, to ensure consistent KPIs and metrics across all communications activities.
  • Forecasts business opportunities and internal responses to ensure continued growth and success of the organization.
  • Establishes systems and processes to ensure that non-financial metrics are being measured and communicated regularly.
  • Oversees post analysis review of initiatives and recommend action steps to improve strategic focus.
  • Uncovers business opportunities and facilitates internal responses to ensure continued growth and success of the organization.
  • Develops and approves recommendations to change systems, policies, and procedures; ensures timely and accurate implementation. Consistently presents a point of view on areas of improvement and optimizations in communications.
  • Ensures employee conformance to established best practices and proper training of staff.
  • Monitors and ensures achievement of performance goals and objectives either directly or through subordinate staff.
  • Represents the organization and its brands with the highest degree of integrity.
  • Participates in department and interdepartmental planning and management teams and works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.
  • Facilitates department and interdepartmental strategic planning with management teams and works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.
  • Manages budget(s) to not exceed corporate targets.
  • Identifies recruits and enhances staff capabilities needed to accomplish objectives.

 

What You Will Need

         

  • Bachelor's degree plus 9 years of public relations agency, journalism and/or corporate public relations, communications, or marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master’s degree plus 7 years of public relations agency, journalism and/or corporate public relations, communications, or marketing experience for a corporation reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience building a discipline or department, managing and developing a communications team.
  • Excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to think end-to-end, manage long-term projects and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience confidently and comfortably speaking to a broad range of audiences through a wide range of relevant media channels about a wide range of topics (e.g. the company, its brands, the wine business, etc.).
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word at an advanced level; MS Excel an intermediate level; MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
  • Required to travel by airplane or automobile; travel to include some weekends and holidays.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
