As a Sr. Statistician at E. & J. Gallo Winery, you will use a wide range of analysis techniques to impact the business across the winery.  You will employ your exceptional technical and communication skills to design and influence research plans.  You will enjoy the challenge and experience of working with a variety of different clients and customers, identifying opportunities to improve, and developing pride and confidence in your work.

 

What You Will Do

 

Diverse and Interesting Statistical Analyses:

  • Independently conducts full data analyses and interpretation in the fields of viticulture, chemistry, enology research, process technology, optimization, and more.
  • Applies expertise with multiple statistical analysis methodologies such as machine learning, segmentation, regression-based modeling, mixed modeling, choice modeling, multivariate, or partial least squares

 

Project Support:

  • Attends and leads internal project meetings and presentations to research scientists in a variety of disciplines.
  • Develops project objectives, research designs and participates in executing project tasks for cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Generates summaries that are useful to all levels of management in both business and technical areas

 

Data Management:

  • Conducts applications testing (i.e. compare results from different software) to ensure that data is analyzed properly using the best software
  • Checks for data integrity by examining outliers, missing values, expected ranges, skip patterns, etc.
  • Develops and documents internal work processes to increase department efficiencies.

 

What You Need

 

  • Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline which includes advanced data analysis (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, physics, quantitative psychology, predictive analytics, chemistry, engineering, finance/economics, data science, computer science, etc.) plus 2 years of statistics or market research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility OR Master of Science Degree in a quantitative discipline which includes advanced data analysis (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, physics, quantitative psychology, predictive analytics, chemistry, engineering, finance/economics, data science, computer science, etc.) plus 4 years of statistics or marketing research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility OR Bachelor of Science Degree in a quantitative discipline which includes advanced data analysis (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, physics, quantitative psychology, predictive analytics, chemistry, engineering, finance/economics, data science, computer science, etc.) plus 6 years of statistics or marketing research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated programming experience using R.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

 

What Will Set You Apart

 

  • Ph. D. in Statistics plus 2 years of statistics, data analytics or market research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Masters Degree in Statistics plus 4 years of statistics, data analytics or market research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and communication skills, listening skills, and experienced in conveying statistical concepts and results to non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and working in collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated an ability to teach themselves advanced models.
  • Experience with SQL and/or Python. •Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Advanced skills in the use of MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word.
  • Experience working within Data Lake environment, preferably AWS.

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range: $105,400 - $158,000/Year
  • Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
