Summary

 

Provides statistical support to All One Marketing Organization, Winemaking, and e-Commerce including study and experimental design, data analysis and reporting, and communicating analysis results to business teams. Identifies business problem to be solved and clarification/definition of objectives for assigned projects. Provides support to various cross-functional Winery project teams, as needed.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Performs statistical analysis in support of Winery OGSM’s; partners with management to support All One Marketing, , Viticulture, Winemaking, Lean Six Sigma, Research Chemistry, Product Development, and other Winery departments as needed. 
  • Development of prototype solutions using mathematical models, such as machine learning algorithms, experimental designs, segmentation, regression-based modeling, mixed effects modeling, decision trees, structural equation modeling (SEM), recommendation engines, , genetic algorithms, single vector machine algorithms, etc.
  • Conducts full data analysis and interpretation; executes the creation of reports.
  • Under minimal supervision, present results to cross functional partners.
  • Generates summaries that are useful to all levels of management in both business and technical areas.
  • Identifies business problem to be solved and clarification/definition of objectives for assigned projects.
  • Utilizes existing winery data to answer corporate objectives.
  • Reviews data and helps management to understand opportunities found within data.
  • Provides statistical training to other winery departments.
  • Makes independent decisions on analytical approach, algorithms, and robust analytics.
  • Assists with overall project management tasks associated with projects, such as aligning on requirements with vendor, review vendor work, and assisting with contracts.
  • Customizes mining programs/algorithms as needed.
  • Participates in cross- functional projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Responsible for data integrity by examining outliers, missing values, expected ranges, skip patterns, etc.
  • Constructs analytic data sets for both exploration and modeling.
  • Develops and documents internal work processes to increase department efficiencies. Processes include data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline which includes advanced data analysis (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, physics, quantitative psychology, predictive analytics, chemistry, engineering, finance/economics, data science, computer science) plus statistics, data analytics or marketing research experience; OR Bachelor of Science Degree in a quantitative discipline which includes advanced data analysis (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, physics, quantitative psychology, predictive analytics, chemistry, engineering, finance/economics, data science, computer science) plus 2 years of statistics, data analytics or marketing research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated programming experience using R.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Ph.D. in Statistics; OR Master's Degree in Statistics with 2 years of statistics, data analytics or marketing research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree in Statistics plus 4 years of statistics, data analytics or marketing research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Skilled and experience in applying statistical techniques and concepts.
  • Skilled and experience in applying machine learning algorithms.
  • Demonstrated an ability to teach themselves advanced models
  • Strong oral and communication skills, listening skills, and experienced in conveying statistical concepts and results to non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and working in collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Advanced skills in the use of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
  • Experience working within Data Lake environment, preferably AWS.
  • Experience working the Data Science Notebooks.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Programming experience with SQL and/or Python.
  • Expertise in data visualization techniques, including use of Tableau, MicroStrategy, or similar tools.
  • Skilled in applying principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
  • Experience with applying principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Experience with dealing with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases.
  • Experience working independently as well as in team environments.
  • Experience with dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

 

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range: $98,000 - $147,000/Year. 
  • Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
