A Taste of What You'll Do
Join our team as a Business Development Manager - Retail and lead the charge in expanding Gallo brands across retail accounts through strategic distributor networks in your assigned state(s). As a brand ambassador, you'll be responsible for executing sales plans and maximizing revenue contributions, leveraging your expertise to forge strong business relationships and implement effective selling techniques. Your role will involve assessing market data to make informed pricing recommendations and strategically focusing on the highest opportunities to drive sales growth.
With a balanced focus on both winery and distributor execution, you'll collaborate closely with distributor management to ensure the seamless implementation of annual sales plans. Your ability to negotiate objectives and sales incentives will be key in aligning distributor leadership with Gallo Winery's goals. You'll oversee the roll-out of national promotions, assist with recruiting strategies, and manage forward-deployed field sales resources, nurturing their career development.
Participating in the annual planning process, you'll present pricing and forecasting strategies, coordinate product launches, and conduct sales training to enrich distributor sales forces and account staff with wine education. You'll engage in direct sales calls with key retail accounts, leveraging your marketing intelligence to establish objectives that support our business plans. Your innovative mindset will drive future-focused change, supporting digital marketing commercialization and maximizing e-Retail opportunities.

What You'll Need
- Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of Gallo winery sales, marketing, or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of Gallo Winery sales, marketing, or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
- Candidate is required to have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver’s license based on the position’s location within 30 days of hire.
- Required to be 21 years of age or older.
- Required to obtain liquor license as required by state/locality.
- Required to travel by air and automobile up to 50% during the course of business
- Required to see, taste, and smell wine and perform wine tastings as part of job functions.
- Experience demonstrating strong leadership selling, time management, public speaking skills.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
How You'll Stand Out
- Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience to include a prior rotation as a Portfolio Consultant, Business Development Manager, Program Manager Sales-LDP, Business Intelligence Manager or Account Manager 2; OR Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of external alcohol sales experience to include retail experience.
- Direct managerial/supervisory experience with sales, retail, or on-premise employees (e.g. District Manager, Area Manager, State Manager, Field Marketing manager, etc.)
- Experience with selling or marketing Gallo products.

- Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. - This position will be based in the location(s) specified in the job posting and requires regular travel within your assigned territory. Occasional travel to company sites may be required as needed.
