Summary:

 

Responsible for the Estate’s overall direction, goals, training, and consumer experience activity across the tasting room, member services, and digital marketing platforms. Responsible for the development of business strategies to drive customer loyalty, acquisition and retention – overall KPI is maximizing the lifetime value of the consumer database. Responsible for Estate tasting room, E-commerce, Wine Club, and Admin revenue streams. Oversees daily operations of tasting room manager, consumer experience team, consumer direct channel and owns communication plan and strategy with consumers. Lead business initiatives through collaboration with Estate team to optimize the customer experience and drive top line revenue.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Team Leadership: 

  • Develops and fosters an estate culture that inspires, motivates, and drives comradery among tasting room and consumer experience team.
  • Identifies and obtains staff capabilities needed to accomplish objectives.
  • Develops a successful vision/strategy, through strong leadership skills.
  • Build high impact, talented, balanced teams among consumer experience.
  • Builds relationships with peers to collaborate across the portfolio.
  • Collaborates within the estate and cross functionally to create and execute promotions, events, and consumer communications including newsletters, shipment collateral, email campaigns and website content.

 

BU/Estate Leadership: 

  • Provides strategic recommendations to Senior Leadership on new opportunities to generate new customers as well as retain existing members.
  • Leads team of DTC Tasting Room and Consumer Experience Representatives, providing guidance on the execution of strategic business development plans.
  • Accountable for dissemination, education, and adoption of estate standards, principles, objectives, and plans to teams.
  • Collaborates with Estate Team to develop ongoing training and educational opportunities to ensure Luxury staff is well-versed on Wine Club sales techniques including the integration of creative brand story, winemaker insights and updated consumer data/metrics.
  • Owned and Operated Strategy and Business Planning:
  • Leverages consumer databases to execute sales strategies via email, phone and mail campaigns to generate incremental sales. Owns and updates owned and operated content calendar.
  • Manages oversight of consumer direct databases and works with partners to analyze data for use in consumer segmentation, program (club) content development and education of Tasting Room staff.
  • Leads financial planning and yearly goal setting for all DTC channels (tasting room, E-commerce, admin and wine club).
  • Responsible for DTC A&P planning, tracking and measurement for initiatives to meet business goals.
  • Leads and prioritizes owned and operated planning and execution through cross functionals (web, CRM, social, paid media) and/or outside partners
  • Responsible for prioritizing, briefing and approving creative against owned and operated campaigns
  • Follows brand guidelines to ensure owned and operated campaigns are aligned with Brand image.
  • Identifies content needs for owned and operated and collaborates with Estate brand partners to execute
  • Approves owned channel opportunities to include website content, online product merchandizing, special promotions and web tracking analysis working with cross functionals and/or outside vendors.
  • Approves potential promotion recommendations from partners based on data collected from eCommerce sites and consumer database.
  • Briefs and approves wine club newsletters
  • Leads team through consumer engagement and admin campaign metrics
  • Ensures adequate stock of inventory for DTC shipments (including wine club shipments and Ecommerce); Partners with Inventory & Operations for movements.
  • Provides leadership, direction and information championing a positive work environment.
  • Collaborates with Fulfillment & Operations Manager to optimize systems (including database and wine club management) and processes to increase revenue and maximize efficiency.
  • Ensures submission of wine club incentives by Consumer Experience Representatives.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable quality, environments and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of marketing, sales, business development, or hospitality management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of Gallo marketing, sales, or hospitality management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus 9 years of marketing, sales, business development, or hospitality management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to travel to various winery sites within the region based on business need.
  • Direct to consumer marketing experience.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to see, smell and taste wine as part of job duties.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a Marketing concentration or Bachelor's degree in Communications plus 10 years of hospitality management experience to include supervisory or managerial experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility. OR Masters Degree with 8 years of hospitality management experience to include supervisory or managerial experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Business development experience.
  • Wine club management experience
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Experience effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; Photoshop, Elypsis and the Winery Cash Management System.
  • Skilled in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Experience defining problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skilled in interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience performing work in accordance with established procedures that are more complex and varied in nature, requiring some evaluation, originality or ingenuity.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in this field of specialization.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state compliance and shipping regulations related to Wine Club operations.
  • Knowledge of wine and wine business.

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range: $51.83 - $77.79/Hour
  • Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
