This position will be based in New York, NY (Metro) and requires regular travel within your assigned territory. Occasional travel to company sites may be required as needed.

Join us at Gallo Spirits as a Market Development Manager for the On-Premise Channel, where you will play a pivotal role in maximizing the sale and distribution of our renowned brands. As the face of  Spirit of Gallo in your accounts and with our distributors, you will build and maintain business relationships, execute sales and marketing strategies, and identify opportunities to elevate our brand presence in your assigned geography.

 

In this dynamic role, you'll spend the majority of your time working directly with distributor personnel to execute monthly programs, close sales gaps, and deliver distribution points. Your strategic planning skills will be key as you prioritize and allocate your time to maximize sales growth, recognizing and seizing opportunities in high-potential accounts. You'll be the primary relationship manager for approximately 30 key accounts, making regular sales calls and promoting our brands.

 

Your ability to train, motivate, and support distributor sales representatives and district managers will be crucial in achieving performance goals. You'll gather and share market intelligence, identify competitive opportunities, and ensure consistency in retail pricing. As a Gallo Spirits ambassador, you'll host events, leverage social media, and engage with accounts to promote our brands within the community.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 7 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Candidate is required to have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver’s license based on the position’s location within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to obtain liquor license as required by state/locality.
  • Required to travel by air and car up to 40% of the time in order to execute job functions.
  • Required to see, taste, and smell wine and perform wine tastings as part of job functions.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Experience demonstrating strong leadership selling, time management, public speaking skills.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What You Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience to include a prior rotation as a Spirits Development Specialist, Spirits Development Specialist Sr, Business Intelligence Analyst Sr, Market Development Manager, Market Development Manager Sr, or Account Manager 1; OR Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of external alcohol sales experience to include spirit sales experience.
  • Experience selling or marketing Gallo brands.
  • Mixology Certification
  • CSS, CSE, CEFS, CSSC or equivalent certification

Compensation:

  • Hiring salary range posted: $89,100 - $133,700 / year
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
