As a Sales Manager for Minnesota/Wisconsin, you’ll work with beverage distributors to maximize the sale of the Gallo spirits portfolio at retail and on-premise outlets in anchor/multi states that drive volume and growth. Working with a world-class sprits sales team, you’ll cultivate relationships with key wholesalers, build brand awareness and ultimately increase sales across both states.  


What You’ll Do


Sales and Program Development

  • Execute monthly programming and new product introductions to achieve spirits merchandising and sales objectives for anchor/multi state distributors.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of local distributor programs that will contribute significantly to the improved position of the spirits portfolio.
  • Function as the distributor’s consultant/liaison regarding all Gallo spirits sales
  • Recommend programming strategy to capitalize on local opportunities to enable the achievement of specific objectives.
  • Engage in persuasive meetings with various levels of distributor personnel to secure commitments to specific sales/marketing objectives.


Relationship Management / Training

  • Develop productive working relationships with all levels of distributor management and ownership.
  • Develops working knowledge of each distributor’s sales force and business
  • Ensures retail prices are consistent with deal structure expectations.
  • Meets and works with each distributor to allocate sufficient resources (personnel, training time) to achieve corporate spirits distribution objectives.
  • Builds positive relationships with key retailers in order to maximize Gallo’s spirits sales and distribution effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with the local Shopper Marketing resource to ensure relevant materials are available to activate locally in market.
  • Create periodic local/regional communication on the 6th standard customer contact list.
  • Evaluate the training needs of each distributor organization as they relate to achievement of spirits sales objectives; implements appropriate classroom and field training to improve the sales skills of distributor sales personnel and the sales management skills of District Managers.
  • Provide support to distributors in developing, implementing, and fully utilizing a management control system for planning, directing, and controlling all sales activities using all appropriate tools available – both manual and electronic.
  • Educate the distributor sales force regarding Gallo spirits portfolio and promoted brands.
  • Support distributors in developing, implementing, and utilizing Point of Sale control systems in accordance with Winery policy.


Pricing / Market Strategy

  • Participate in management meetings, monthly sales meetings, and team meetings in major markets in order to ensure proper emphasis for promoted spirits brands.
  • Create annual plan addressing distribution, promotion, and demos/tastings; develops local market advertisement and promotion plans including sales incentives.
  • Collaborate and consults with field colleagues to identify and collect pricing opportunities, analyze and determine tactical pricing changes, and ensure pricing is consistent with brand guidance.
  • Manage and leverages assets/collateral associated with spirits sponsorships.


What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of beverage sales, marketing, or affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful completion of background check. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to travel by air, car, and or train in the course of business.
  • Required to lift and move product weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to employ an alternative work schedule to include weekends and evenings.
  • Required to obtain a liquor license as required by state/locally.
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration plus 7 years of Gallo Winery sales or affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
