This position can be done remotely within the following cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York.  Please note one week travel per month to the corporate headquarters in Modesto, CA along with additional travel in-market a month (50% travel annually).

 

Summary:

 

Accountable for the 3-Year Plan, strategy and brand plans across the Canadian region for Gallo Wines Business Unit brands. Responsible for coordinating and enlisting the strategic priorities for Canada’s brands and portfolio initiatives with the Gallo Wines Business Unit. Acts as a liaison between Regional Marketing and the Gallo Wines Business Unit to optimize the company’s products in the Canadian market. Partners closely with Regional Marketing and U.S. brand leaders to set strategy for Canada.  Owns the P&L (holistic volume, revenue and A&P) for Canada’s Commercial wine portfolio. Partners with U.S. brand Agile teams to accomplish work as needed and ensure equity is aligned.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Accountable for the strategy and prioritization of Canada commercial wine brand portfolio based on agreed upon plan with BU and U.S. brand owners.
  • Approves A&P based on agreed upon plan with U.S. brand owners.
  • Accountable for the 3YP for Canada commercial wine portfolio based on agreed upon plan with U.S. brand owners.
  • Approves and accountable for A&P budget once the BU/Finance approves. Ensures communication to Region Marketing and ensures adherence to plan.
  • Approves brand and portfolio priorities and ensures alignment with Region Marketing and Sales Manager.
  • Supervises the analysis of pricing, shopper and market segmentation, competition, Below-The-Line (BTL) test market results, SKU optimization, channel, and portfolio strategy to inform decision-making.
  • Accountable for the Canada commercial wine P&L.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of the 3-Year Plan (3YP) Strategy and brand plans across the region, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Partner with Regional Marketing to ensure alignment with brand strategy and positioning and be an advocate for necessary local customization.
  • Partner with the Forecasting team to manage the brand or customer forecasting process, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Serves as a liaison between Regional Marketing and BU Innovation to present NPD ideas/opportunities relevant to the region/market and gain necessary support/investment from the BU.
  • Participates in the ideation phase of NPD and lead the implementation of NPD initiatives postdevelopment from the international marketing team.
  • Approves Brand Plans for region. 
  • Facilitates clear communication of key business issues and initiatives to the BU team and upper management, securing necessary buy-in and support.
  • Leads the planning process for brands, establishing mid to long-term objectives, strategies, and plans based on current business dynamics.
  • Oversees the approval of channel strategies.
  • Approves communication strategy and media plans.
  • Accountable for media plan approval.
  • Approves final creative content for use in the region.
  • Accountable for work done by external agencies.
  • Approves agency selection and budget for outside agencies.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree plus 6 years of experience to include 3 years of brand management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of sales, marketing, consulting, or agency experience to include brand management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of Gallo sales, marketing, hospitality, engineering or operations experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 12 years of sales, marketing, consulting, or agency experience to include brand management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to travel up to 25% of the time in-market in order to perform job duties.
  • 2 years of managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Experience owning full P&L. 
  • Ability to influence others including executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of marketing experience to include brand management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master’s degree plus 8 years of marketing experience to include brand management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience with international markets.
  • Proficient with analyzing and applying findings from Circana, Flex and ORI.
  • Experience with successfully positioning products within highly-competitive categories; knowledge of how to synthesize research and information to create compelling marketing and advertising programs.
  • Experience with inspiring the best from key support areas such as R&D, advertising agencies, and customers.
  • Knowledge of using consumer insights to create compelling competitive differentiation.
  • Experience with long-term brand building, as well as classic consumer packaged goods marketing and niche or luxury marketing where required.
  • Classical training in sophisticated marketing techniques across the marketing mix.
  • Proven success leading and developing teams of people.
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting the most complex documents.
  • Experience responding effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Experience writing speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Experience applying principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Experience dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience working with all levels and functions within the company.

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range: $143,500 - $215,300/Year
  • Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
