A Taste of What You'll Do
Join GALLO as a Controls Technician and play a key role in advancing safe, reliable, and high-performing plant operations. In this hands-on technical role, you will maintain, install, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate plant instrumentation and control systems while applying advanced knowledge of programming, process controls, and production equipment. You will help minimize downtime, improve performance, and recommend practical solutions that strengthen both processes and equipment.
As a trusted technical resource, you will serve as the Controls Lead for complex issues requiring escalation and support Plant Engineering projects as a controls lead or systems integrator. Your work may include PLC and HMI project adjustments, equipment upgrades, electrical component replacement and parameter downloads, MES and Historian tag integration, Kepware changes, and troubleshooting communication networks such as DeviceNet, Data Highway, and CAN I/O.
You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, vendors, and cross-functional partners to develop ideas, evaluate technical and cost information, execute continuous-improvement initiatives, and support capital assets and new-product commercialization. You will help identify obsolescence risks, research and implement technology improvements, assess test results, and communicate project progress, timelines, budgets, and potential roadblocks.
Success in this role calls for curiosity, sound judgment, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning. You will use Lean Six Sigma principles to investigate challenges and deliver improvements that support equipment reliability, yield, and efficiency. Safety, quality, GMP, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance are central to every assignment. You will maintain a clean, safe work area, address conditions that could affect production or wellbeing, and support colleagues wherever needed. What You'll Need
- Bachelor of Science Degree plus 3 year of working with PLC controls, logic circuits, pneumatic and electrical equipment experience; OR 2 years technical degree in electrical technology plus 5 years of experience working with PLC controls, logic circuits, pneumatic and electrical equipment; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 7 years of experience working with PLC controls, logic circuits, pneumatic and electrical equipment.
- Required to climb stairs and ladders; required to conduct work at heights.
- Knowledgeable of Electrical Safety procedures.
- May be required to work a rotating shift/schedule (e.g., day, swing, graveyard, 5x8, 4x10) as well as weekends and overtime.
- Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
- Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. How You'll Stand Out

- Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Experience interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Understanding of theory behind instrumentation functionality
- Understanding of AGV/ATL/Swiss log systems
- L6S Certification (Lean Practitioner/ Green Belt)

- Three (3) or more years of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
- CPG Manufacturing Systems (Filling, Labeling, Packaging, etc.)
- Winery Manufacturing Systems (Fermentation, Piping, Filtration, etc.)
- Utility Systems (Power & Distribution, Steam, Water, Waste, etc.)
- Data Systems (SQL, Trending, Reporting, Visualization)
- Control Systems (Rockwell, SCADA, PLC, Instrumentation)
- Project Management
- Agricultural Equipment and Infrastructure Systems (irrigation, site grading, drainage, etc.)
- AGV/ATL/Swiss log systems
- Glass Manufacturing Systems

- We offer a broad salary range to allow for long-term growth. Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by multiple factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. In addition to the salary, this position may be eligible for bonuses, incentive plans, or participate in tasting room tip pools, as applicable.
