SUMMARY

The MSC Maintenance Mechanic is a full-time position responsible for the maintenance and repair of conveyor systems, palletizing systems, labeling systems, stretch wrapping equipment, automated guided vehicles, automatic doors, dock equipment, robotics and other general maintenance commonly found in a production environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts all maintenance repairs around the plant, with approximately 80% within the plant and 20% in a shop area.
  • Replaces switches, troubleshoots (locates electrical problems) and performs a variety of bench work tasks.
  • Performs mechanical troubleshooting tasks effectively working with or without manuals.
  • Reads and troubleshoots from electrical schematic diagrams.
  • Maintains and constructs production and plant equipment; capable of diagnosing, analyzing, investigating and correcting causes of malfunction of production and plant equipment and machinery.
  • Reads and troubleshoots from PLC ladder logic and I/O charts.
  • Reads and works from mechanical blue prints and sketches.
  • Works with electricity, 120V through 480V circuits.
  • Performs basic maintenance skills such as welding, mechanical work and equipment adjustment.
  • Works with automatic stretch wrapping systems.
  • Participates in training other department members and operators in serviced departments on equipment as required.
  • Works with case conveyor, palletizer and labeling equipment.
  • Reviews and processes work from mechanical blue prints and sketches.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

  • Continuously inspect the entire work area including the machine(s) or area to which you are assigned and the entire production area, for unsanitary conditions or other conditions that may adversely affect production or safety, and appropriately address them (e.g., sweep and properly dispose of all broken glass, mop and dry spills, etc.). Assist coworkers in the work area or on other areas if necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of maintenance experience OR Associate’s degree / Certificate of completion from an accredited industrial trade program plus 3 years of maintenance experience OR completion of a technical military school/certification plus 3 years of maintenance experience
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Required to work any shift
  • Required to work overtime if necessary
  • Required to successfully complete assessment
  • Required to work weekends if necessary
  • Required to lift and move up to 50 pound frequently

 

Min Quals Standard

  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Basic computer knowledge, E-mail, MS Word, Excel.
  • Complies with company GMP policies.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Performs assigned jobs with minimum direction and supervision.
  • Proficiency in all phases of machine work.

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be exposed to dust and fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
