SUMMARY

The Level 4 Advanced Operator must demonstrate depth of skill on machine centers during operation, change-over and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).  Certification and re-certification of attained Machine Operator skills, duties, accountabilities, including safety, QA and HACCP will be necessary.  On-the-job training of other line operators for the aforementioned job functions is expected of this position.  The Level 4 Advanced Operator will be designated as Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) on an equipment center designated by management and must possess the skills required for documentation and training other operators.  This position must operate all equipment centers. 

This position will not initially be assigned to any one specific production line.  In the future, management may assign this position a specific line.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Advanced Machine Operator performs advanced skills and operation of three major equipment centers on an advanced technological bottling line as determined by management.
  • Participates in line changes as required.
  • Rotates between equipment centers, and on any line as required.
  • Cross-trains on any equipment center or line as needed.
  • Work as General Winery Worker/General Light Worker (inspector) when required.
  • Use hand tools designated for operators.
  • Reads and understands technical training manuals; apply content to job functions, create checklists, and re-writing and design of Gallo training manuals.
  • Responsible for training additional operators including providing coaching and feedback.
  • Learns and maintains new skills and processes introduced for equipment center operation.
  • Supports Company goals in cost reduction and customer service.
  • Follows company safety procedures, quality and Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement, accountability.
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency, teamwork within diverse team make-up, effective oral/written communication skills, problem solving and decision-making, mechanical aptitude/manual dexterity; interact cross-functionally with Ops/Supply Chain personnel.
  • Accepts constructive feedback and alter behavior accordingly.
  • Performs all essential functions at an acceptable level of performance as determined by management.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Operator Level 4 Work Keys Scores
    • Math – 4
    • Locating Information – 4
    • Reading for Information – 4
  • Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude/dexterity.
  • Requires effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Requires problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Requires sense of urgency.
  • Requires machine operation skills and abilities.
  • Experience working on teams and the ability to train others.
  • Required to lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally with torso rotation and neck movement.
  • Required to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to work any shift.
  • Required to work overtime if necessary.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior packaging machinery operation.
  • Experience creating documentation and training other line operators.
  • Experience with human machine interface (HMI).
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Bottling operation knowledge to include line flow theory and engineering design.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to:

  • Stand and walk up to 90 percent of the workday.
  • Push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, handle and grasp, twist/turn.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds with torso rotation and neck movement on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to lift maximum 50 pounds.
