By establishing, maintaining and improving relationships with the individual chain store middle management personnel, achieves all Gallo Merchandising objectives in chain grocery/drug stores.  



  • Where possible, have access to store blueprints on new and remodeled stores.
  • Surveys stores to be reset for the purpose of determining traffic flow, identifying adjacent departments or categories, and cold box opportunities.
  • Surveys stores for the purpose of identifying problems in department flows.
  • Understanding the accounts desires and needs while maximizing Gallo’s merchandising objectives.
  • Develop and present store re-set layouts to key account personnel in a timely manner.
  • Incorporates accounts needs and desires into store schematics, maintains, reviews and updates these schematics as needed.
  • Surveys stores to see that updated schematics are being implemented and existing schematics maintained.
  • Knowledgeable of store management personnel who affect wine merchandising and develop a working relationship with them.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in overcoming problems and personalities specific to individual chains.  Create a sense of trust and dependency with customers.
  • Develop an open line of written and verbal communication with customers.
  • Communicate to our sales force how specific chain district policies affect us at store level.
  • Through field surveys and ride-alongs, identifies merchandising needs at store level.
  • Attend team meetings on a regular basis for the purpose of updating schematics, discussing current merchandising trends and specific chain planning objectives.
  • Communicate all store specific information to management in a timely manner.
  • Accurate detailed weekly and monthly reports are to be submitted to management in a timely manner.
  • Must insure that all records of assigned stores are current and accurate.  Current describes records being no older than six months.
  • Have knowledge of all current space management programs and software, and insure that all existing reports and schematics are converted and updated as needed.
  • Develop, distribute, collect, and analyze informational reports for the maintenance and improvement of assigned accounts.
  • Work on specific Category Management projects assigned by the Director of Category Management.
  • Provides guidance to personnel assigned to re-set specific store shelves, and the cold box in accordance with pre-determined schematic changes approved by store management.
  • Practices safe work and driving habits and, if accountable for others, ensures their understanding and compliance of such habits.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.  If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • 2 years of demonstrated sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to lift and move 45 – 57 pound cases of product. 
  • Required to successfully pass physical demands testing.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful completion of background check. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • No more than 2 moving violations within the past 3 years and no DUI/DWI convictions within the past 5 years.



  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree.

  • Good communication skills; sticks to point.

  • Good time management skills.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork experience.
