As a Manager of Software Engineering you will manage a team that drives and creates digital solutions to solve business problems. You will be responsible for both front-end and back-end software development. You will work with cross-functional partners to determine software needs and ensures functionality and continuous updates. Oversees day to day activities and reviews coding of other engineers. Participates in architectural decision making.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Manages back end and front end software engineers (3+) to execute the design and development of software applications while ensuring best practices related to software developing are followed.
  • Inspires and motivates the engineering team during the planning and development process through the agile development process.
  • Provides technical direction, training, coaching, development to team. Actively participates in architecture decision making process and leads software design process.
  • Performs code reviews for team.
  • Owns and executes the product management lifecycle, from discovery to delivery.
  • Successfully translates complex analytics models into easily consumable and valuable insights for our customers as they make important business decisions
  • Synthesizes complex concepts and research into organized technical product requirements .
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders in product, design, engineering, science and marketing teams to discover, develop, design, and deliver product capabilities and fulfill business needs.
  • Identifies opportunities to collaborate with unique technology providers to extend platform capabilities.
  • Identifies, builds, and tracks key product success metrics and derives product iterations to improve product quality and user experience.
  • Participates in one or more cross-functional guilds across the organization to address business concerns or identify business needs.
  • Monitors emerging technology in the marketplace and acts as a technical consultant to the product organization and leads research and prototyping of innovative technologies and products.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of business needs and is proactively identifying and addressing gaps to build successful products.
  • Drives relationships with business partners and serves as a trusted consultant for product solutions.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to ensure fulfillment of product requirements, evaluates product performance and transitions products from development to commercialization.
  • Works with TPMs on technical issues related to product integration, custom development and requirements.
  • In partnership with the TPM, responsible for product delivery and managing schedules and tasks related to all aspects of product development.
  • Actively identifies and resolves issues or removes barriers that may impair team's ability to meet strategic, financial and technical goals.
  • Ensures project/department milestone goals are met and adheres to approved budgets.
  • Acts with full authority for personnel actions.
  • Possesses extensive technical knowledge of front end or back end development processes and is developing to learn both fronts.
  • Develops and recommends changes to systems, policies and procedures; ensures timely and accurate implementation.
  • Oversees and handles projects of small to large complexity.
  • Accountable for adherence to budgets, managing T&E, and may develop the operating budget and capital spending plan.
  • Identifies and obtains staff capabilities needed to accomplish organizational directives.
  • Monitors and ensures achievement of performance goals and objectives either directly or through subordinate staff.
  • Balances planning efforts with day to day demands.
  • Sets and manages performance expectations for direct reports.
  • Ensures employee conformance to established best practices and proper training of staff.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Develops, coaches and mentors peers, indirect and subordinate staff.
  • If accountable for the work of others, conducts performance evaluations; reviews and communicates salary adjustments; rewards employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.

 

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, MIS, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or Data Sciences plus 5 years of IT experience; OR Bachelor's plus 6 years of IT experience; OR Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of software engineering/development experience; OR High school diploma or State issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of IT experience.
  • Experience leading software engineers and developers.
  • Required to travel to meet customers, partners, other office locations, conferences and trade shows, not exceeding 20%
  • Data analysis / data management experience.

 

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, MIS, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or Data Sciences plus 7 years of IT experience; OR Bachelor's plus 8 years of IT experience; OR Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of software engineering/development experience; OR High school diploma or State issued equivalency certificate plus 12 years of IT experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Outstanding problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range: $133,400 - $200,200 (10% RFR Bonus Target). 
  • Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
