Summary
Supervises and coordinates all work activities for the Corporate Security guard force. Acts as tactical leader for normal security related incidents, emergency situations and in times of crisis. Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with Winery management as well as local law enforcement, fire and other emergency management agencies. Required to work a rotational assignment responsible for monitoring the work activities of contract security personnel at the Fresno, Livingston, Madera and McCall Wineries when necessary. While supporting the outside wineries and ranches, will be required to deliver security related training to include: CPR, First Aid, and AED training.
Essential Functions

  • This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
  • Supervises daily security activities for Ranch and Winery; determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, monitors daily workflow.
  • In the absence of the Supervisor-Security Support Services, provides functional supervision of CSOC employees as needed.
  • Ensures that all security related documentation and paperwork complies with Winery, State and Federal standards. Ensures all incidents are fully investigated and documented and distributed to appropriate Winery personnel.
  • Ensures all guards are properly trained in Federal, State and local requirements.
  • Participates in the development of annual goals and objectives, monitors progress and delegates responsibility when appropriate.
  • Participates in the development of property protection programs, emergency procedures and executive protection programs.
  • Interviews candidates and trains new employees.
  • Tracks budgetary expenditures.
  • Participates in the security planning for special events, to include crowd control, emergency issues, etc.
  • Develops training curriculum specific to security related activities; provides instruction to employees.
  • Looks for improvement opportunities for department operations, security programs, training programs and communications.
  • Represents Security Operations Manager/Executive Protection Manager or Director of Security work related functions as necessary.
  • Issues written/verbal instructions as needed.
  • Participates in special projects or assignments as requested.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Develops, coaches and mentors peers, indirect and subordinate staff.
  • If accountable for the work of others, conducts performance evaluations; reviews and communicates salary adjustments; rewards employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 5 years of security, military, or sworn law enforcement to include 2 years of supervisory experience reflecting increasing level of responsibility; OR High School diploma plus 3 years of Gallo Corporate Security to include 1 year of supervisory experience reflecting increasing level of responsibility.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with intrusion alarm systems, fire alarms, access control and CCTV systems.
  • Required obtain and maintain all required certificates and licenses including, but not limited to, California Drivers license, Guard Card from BSIS, Exposed Weapons Permit from BSIS, Concealed Weapons permit, First Aid, CPR/AED certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience communicating and interact with all levels, including family members.
  • Experience communicating effectively with local agencies and understand the scope of authority as it relates to jurisdictional issues involving investigations, security matters, fire prevention and emergency situations.
  • Experience working independently.
  • Excellent decision making skills.
  • Required to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
  • Computer skill requirements include: basic MS office experience and knowledge.
  • Required to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 7 years of security, military, or sworn law enforcement to include 4 years of supervisory experience reflecting increasing level of responsibility; OR High School diploma plus 5 years of Gallo Corporate Security to include 3 year of supervisory experience reflecting increasing level of responsibility OR Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of security, military, or sworn law enforcement to include 1 year of supervisory experience reflecting increasing level of responsibility.
  • Experience leveraging partnerships that create synergies.

Must have eyesight correctable to 20/20 vision with peripheral vision.
