As a Senior Network Engineer you will work from specifications to design, develop, test, and modify computer hardware and peripheral equipment as well as implement and support software operating systems.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Supports multiple business areas. Understanding the business areas supported, to determine specific business requirements.
  • Analyzes complex systems and software requirements to determine feasibility of design.
  • Performs network assessments and security audits.
  • Evaluates, installs, and configures 3rd party network solutions to support the management of the operating systems and hardware.
  • Reviews and defines training manuals in the use of new or modified equipment, operating systems and software.
  • Confers with customers/users regarding operating system and software maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots technology problems and coordinates resolution with appropriate groups, including vendors.
  • Develops business relationships and integrates activities with other IT business units/areas to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts.
  • Prepares project-phase plans and implementation schedules, plan and conduct meetings and workshops relative to these project plans.
  • Leads multiple medium sized and complex projects which entail overseeing internal IT professionals, as well as external IT professionals.
  • Performs upgrades of network hardware and software.
  • Tests and configures hardware and software in labs for evaluation and proof of concept work.
  • Designs and implements testing methodology; reviews and defines documentation.
  • Reviews and defines work plans and is expected to meet budget and schedule commitments.
  • Recommends and take action to direct analysis and solutions of project issues.
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments, divisions, and organizations.
  • Supports troubleshooting of complex network and security problems.
  • Creates and updates monitoring agent scripts, monitor dashboards, responds to alerts.
  • Communicates project status reporting to all levels of management.
  • Provides technical leadership and/or business expertise to subordinates and peers on complex projects.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

 

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, MIS, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Data Sciences, Economics, or Physics plus 3 years of information systems experience; OR Bachelor's degree plus 4 years information systems experience reflecting increasing levels of experience; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of information systems experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to possess a current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification in Routing & Switching.
  • 3 years of experience with PAN Firewalls, including VPN and B2B terminations.
  • 3 years of experience with F5 Load Balancers.
  • 3 years of experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting Aruba IAP and controller-based wireless networks.
  • 3 years of experience with Cisco Unified Communications, VOIP and Jabber.
  • 3 years experience in capturing and analyzing network packet traces to aid in root cause analysis using Omnipeek, Wireshark, Opnet, etc.
  • Able to participate in on-call rotation.
  • Able to be onsite within 60 minutes after being contacted.
  • Required to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to climb and work on a 15 foot ladder.
  • Required to travel domestically & internationally.
  • Skilled in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
  • Intermediate AutoCAD and Visio skills.
  • Advanced network troubleshooting experience in a large, complex environment.

 

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, MIS, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Data Sciences, Economics, or Physics plus 5 years of information systems experience; OR Bachelor's degree plus 6 years information systems experience reflecting increasing levels of experience; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of information systems experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience with manufacturing networks (ie. SCADA systems, PLCs, HMIs, etc.)
  • Experience with SilverPeak SD-WAN implementation and support.
  • Knowledge of AWS public cloud (VPCs, EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, CloudFormation, Route 53).
  • Current AWS CSA, Azure Architecture Certification or GCP certification.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management using Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, or Salt.
  • Experience with NetApp and Brocade Storage Area Network implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Experience effectively present ideas to executive management via discussions and presentations.
  • Skilled in resolving conflict as well as managing customer expectations.
  • Skilled in influencing others.
