As a Senior Data Steward you will be responsible for formulating and defining data quality metrics and requirements. You will coordinate the organization’s quality and maintenance of data by defining data elements as well as establishes policies and procedures related to the collection and accuracy of data and performance of tests on data systems. Partners on data remediation efforts when data issues arise. Interacts with stakeholders across the organization to ensure business needs around data are appropriately met.

 

What You Will Do:

Operational Oversight:

  • Maintains understanding of multiple data domains supported.
  • Solves practical problems, collects data, establishes facts, and deals with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Translates business requirements into functional and non-functional specifications that can be understood by upstream and downstream stakeholders.
  • Define and implement policies and procedures for day-to-day operational and administrative management of systems and their data.
  • Define and Drive a single source of truth for organization wide Key Performance Indicators and the data requirements that support them.
  • Define and implement policies and procedures for the day to day operational and administrative management of systems' data.
  • Assess requests for new data fields and elements and present recommendations to governance board for approval.

Data Quality:

  • Establish and communicate data quality metrics and requirements.
  • Establish procedures for detection and correction of data quality issues.
  • Collaborate to establish policies, procedures, and internal controls surrounding defect management of data issues.
  • Engage cross-functionally in the ongoing and detailed evaluation of data quality, the identification of anomalies and discrepancies, and the contribution of expertise to understand the root cause.
  • Implement corrective measures on data quality issues that arise.
  • Establish and maintain data-quality metrics, dashboards, and requirements including defining the values, ranges, and parameters that are acceptable for each data element.

Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Maintains understanding of industry macro data market trends and impact to the organization.
  • Understand SQL programming language to allow for systematic programming of business requirements into Information Steward.
  • Privacy, Security, Regulatory Compliance, and Risk Management:
  • Partner with data security to establish guidelines and protocols that govern the proliferation of data and to ensure privacy controls are enforced in all processes.
  • Partner with legal department to compile retention, archival, and disposal requirements of data objects.
  • Establish and implement data curation practices to ensure the life span of data objects is in line with archival and retention policies.
  • Maintain an understanding of global data regulations and assess organizational impact of any new or changing policies.

Relationship and Communication:

  • Builds long-term relationships between multiple business partners to drive engagement in enterprise strategy. Influences business partner decision making to optimize requirements prioritization. Effectively leads team through conflict between multiple business partners.
  • Builds long-term relations with IT teams and suppliers, engaging them to ensure solution quality and targeted business outcomes. Creates vision of project success driving supplier engagement.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental, and safety regulatory considerations.

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, MIS, Math, Engineering or Business Administration plus 2 years of business systems analysis experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of business systems analysis experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR 7 years of business systems analysis experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility;  OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Math, Engineering or Business Administration plus 3 years of business systems analysis experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to develop scope and phases to meet intended deadlines.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word and MS Excel at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, collecting data, establishing facts and dealing with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Excellent communication and business writing skills.
  • Experience communicating complex topics to support project and organizational change objectives.
  • Ability to define data governance policies and educate all necessary stakeholders.

 

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Math, Engineering or Business Administration plus 4 years of business systems analysis experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include document preparation.
  • Working knowledge of SQL queries language.
  • Experience with Visio, MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, and SharePoint.
  • Working knowledge of relational database design.
  • Experience SAP BPC Software (Business Planning and Consolidation).
  • Experience with SAP ERP.
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase, BI or other Reporting tools.
  • Experience working in multiple functional areas such as Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, H.R., Sourcing, Order to Cash, Co-Manufacturing or Winemaking.
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Experience effectively presenting ideas to executive management via discussions and presentations.
  • Experience resolving conflict as well as managing customer expectations.
  • Experience completing assignments that are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
  • Knowledge of project management tools.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in this field of specialization.
  • Extensive data management experience, including in-depth knowledge of data modeling, data integration, data configuration, and general data.
  • Ability to determine best ways to improve the quality of existing data and ensure that those guidelines are carried through to new data as well.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and architecture principles and techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments, especially within IT, supporting the development and implementation of changes including issue resolution and planning for enhancements and upgrades, including new data sources.
