Job location is based in Modesto, CA - open to a hybrid schedule. Expected to be in the office 40%, remote 60%

 

The Quality Systems Manager leads the direction and development of the Laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS) across the Gallo Laboratory Enterprise. Oversees the implementation, execution and continuous improvement of the QMS. Maintains the Gallo Laboratory Enterprise’s on-going compliance to ISO/IEC 17025 and California’s Environmental Lab Accreditation Program (ELAP) standards. Reviews compliance and on-going laboratory performance and proficiency to established QMS requirements.  

What You Will Do    

  • Drives applicable Gallo Laboratories’ compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, California ELAP, and Gallo’s Laboratory best-practice quality requirements
  • Directs workflow activities and accountabilities through appropriate Laboratory leadership in maintaining adequate QMS functionality.
  • Conducts annual laboratory QMS Management Review sessions to drive continuous improvement and keep Lab-based Quality Systems relevant in support the current business.
  • Manages the document control workflow through Content Server: designs, develops, and implements process changes as necessary.
  • Leads the internal audit programs for the Gallo Global Laboratory enterprise.
  • Functions as management representative during all external audits.
  • Coordinates the CAR/PAR system and proficiency testing programs for the department.
  • Coordinates quality system training and ensures compliance for new employees.
  • Partners with the Gallo laboratory network and Quality Co-Manufacturing to evaluate adequate laboratory performance and identifies quality system improvement opportunities through appropriate quality system gap assessments.
  • Coordinates appropriate experimental design as it relates to method quality control/quality assurance criteria. Assists in method validation design to optimize existing methodologies or develop new methods required to support business growth.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in a Natural Science discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Biological Sciences, and Physics) plus 7 years of analytical quality assurance/quality control experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility, to include 5 years of ISO/IEC 17025 experience within a laboratory setting.
  • Skilled in the use of advanced data analytics tools (Tableau, Northwest Analytics, MicroStrategy) to statistically evaluate laboratory information.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Occasional overnight as well as international travel is required.
  • Experience working under and executing quality management systems.
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment.

What Will Set You Apart    

  • Master of Science degree in Chemistry plus 5 years of quality systems management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience implementing or sustaining laboratory quality assurance practices including corrective/preventive action, document control, training records management, control charting, and internal auditing.
  • Skilled in advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Experience applying mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
