PROCESS TECHNOLOGY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR ENGINEERS (6 MONTHS)

LOCATION: LIVINGSTON, MODESTO, FRESNO, and LODI,  CA

 

Process Technology Description

The E&J Gallo wineries located in Livingston, Modesto, and Fresno are world-class centers for the production of domestic and international wines.  This internship provides the opportunity to work within one of these facilities and partner closely with a cross-functional team to execute Engineering projects during the grape harvest.  Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside professional technology managers, gaining valuable hands-on expertise in a variety of areas at the Winery.

 

The Process Technology Development Internship Program for Engineers is searching for appropriate candidates to fill 6 month positions within our Process Technology Department.  Interns will work with cross-functional teams, including operations, winemaking, engineering and operators to execute technology projects that are undertaken during the harvest season.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a lab or production environment and increase your skill base for future employment or graduate school.  Working closely with cross functional teams, interns’ essential functions are as follows (although it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned):

  • Assist in the development and scale-up of new technologies and/or processes for the Winery.
  • Participate in technology and/or process improvement projects and assist in managing a portion of an ongoing development project.
  • Gathers and analyzes technical and cost data to determine feasibility.
  • Evaluates and presents test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses.
  • Updates standards, policies, specifications and procedures as assigned.
  • Monitors and ensures achievement of project goals, objectives and timelines.
  • Solves technical problems and issues.
  • Communicates project status.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Currently enrolled at a college or university and working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the School of Engineering or have obtained a Bachelor’s or Masters degree from the School of Engineering.​
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Available for the entire duration of this internship program – mid-June 2023 through mid-December 2023.
  • Required to lift and move up to 40 lbs when necessary.
  • Required to work at heights of 50 feet, on tops of tanks inspecting wine surfaces when necessary.
  • Requires availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.

 

Compensation

  • Hiring Hourly Range Posted: $24-$27
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior class standing at a college or university and working towards a Bachelor’s degree in the School of Engineering.
  • Strong applied technical skills and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and team skills and experience managing multiple assignments.
  • Comfortable in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical inclination and an aptitude for design of equipment and manufacturing processes.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Inside/Outside conditions: During crush, work estimated at least 50% (but not limited to) outside with weather of varying types.
  • Wet/Slippery conditions vary and may include working in rain.
  • Noise levels may vary.  Occasional situations where ear protection is required.
