As the EHS Specialist for Modesto Operations you will be responsible for implementation and continuous improvement of select occupational Health & Safety programs necessary to ensure the organization is in compliance with relevant federal, state and local laws, regulations and standards at a multiple-site level.  This role will work directly with safety managers, operational managers, team leaders, and team members of all departments serving the Gallo Modesto campus. As part of the 24/7 facility operations, you will be responsible for offering support across shifts to mitigate hazards in the workplace by conducting incident investigations, root cause analyses, and partnering with facilities to drive corrective actions to closure and improve EHS programs. 

What You Will Do

  • Provides “boots-on-the-ground” health & safety compliance support in collaboration with safety managers who oversee all Gallo Modesto facilities
  • Provides coverage for safety managers in response to site incidents including on-call support
  • Works with supervisors to facilitate incident investigations, identifies root cause to prevent recurrence, and tracks corrective action effectiveness for injuries
  • Drives continuous improvement and closure to select health, safety, and industrial hygiene compliance gaps identified through corporate audits, internal audits, third party audits, and regulatory inspections
  • Performs safety program self-assessments, job hazard analyses, audits, and inspections for compliance with environmental, health and safety requirements
  • Develops team leader skills and knowledge in environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements for integration into their respective job duties

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of environmental, health, safety experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR high school diploma or state-issued equivalency certificate plus 7 years of environmental, health, safety experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science or Engineering plus 5 years of occupational safety for a manufacturing facility reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Possession of EHS related certifications (Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or other nationally recognized certification.
  • Experience working with mid-level management in a manufacturing environment
