As a Compensation Business Partner you will develop, recommend and support the corporate compensation programs and processes to ensure consistency and competitiveness to achieve the organization’s goal to attract, motivate, develop and retain a high performing and engaged workforce. You will be a subject matter expert who leads large projects and performs complex research and analysis on compensation policies and practices in the areas of job evaluation, base salary, variable pay, pay structures, internal equity, external market trends, and regulatory compliance. You will help in developing collaborative client and HR relationships to support compensation needs and services.


What You Will Do:

  • Compensation Client Support
  • Builds a consultative and collaborative relationship with HR and Talent Acquisition Partners and business leaders on compensation programs and initiatives.
  • Provides ongoing customer service and support to broader HR community and leadership by fielding and addressing general compensation questions and data inquiries.
  • Maintains understanding of the competitive marketplace, business issues and challenges in order to effectively design or recommend new compensation plans, programs and/or policies.
  • Assesses and develops the business case and ROI for new and existing compensation programs and projects that support the unique needs of different business clients.
  • Coordinates data and reporting with internal stakeholders mainly HR and finance.
  • Analyzes data sets to distill insights, conveys findings and make recommendations to business partners.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition team to ensure offer process is applied to ensure fair and equitable pay. This includes offer alignment to market and internal peers.
  • Leads to continuously improve compensation standard work and practices.
  • Recommends appropriate compensation practices, incentive plans, job descriptions and measures for the analysis of pay program effectiveness for client groups.
  • Develops and administers company compensation infrastructure including job evaluations, market pricing and pro-active analysis.
  • Partners with clients, Organizational Development, HRBPs, Employee Relations and compensation team on job architecture (re-orgs) for new and existing roles within client groups.
  • Ensures that day to day client work to include offers, job evaluation requests, benchmarking methodology and special projects is done in a timely and effective manner.
  • Reviews key job duties and accountabilities to determine appropriate FLSA classifications to ensure company compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Works with leadership and other compensation team members on the college recruiting programs for client groups including new grad, MBA, interns and development programs.
  • Core Process (Annual Compensation Reviews)
  • Partners with the Comp Operations & Programs team and cross functional partners to execute and drive consistency across Core Process (compensation planning) with focus on assigned client groups.
  • Provides input into the annual equity review process for client groups, providing insights on market trends and collaborating with the Compensation Data- Insights & Analytics team member to integrate into Corporatewide data set.
  • Supports mid-year and annual promotion cycles for assigned client groups.
  • Contributes to the completion and submission of annual salary surveys (for client groups supported) and makes recommendations on which surveys to participate in based on business insights and best practices.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; directs the work of other staff members as assigned.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Develops, coaches and mentors peers, indirect and subordinate staff.
  • If accountable for the work of others, conducts performance evaluations; reviews and communicates salary adjustments; rewards employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of Compensation Analysis experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of experience in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Mathematics to include an understanding of Compensation Fundamentals reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of experience in Human Resources or Finance to include experience in Compensation Analysis reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong analytical and complex problem solving skills; takes a new perspective using existing solutions.
  • Detail driven individual with emphasis on accuracy, coupled with ability to see the broader picture and summarize complex data.
  • Knows and applies a broad working knowledge of compensation principles, practices and procedures.
  • Responsible for working with highly sensitive and confidential information and maintaining the confidentiality of the information used during the normal course of business.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Skilled in juggling multiple tasks while still delivering high quality results.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skill requirements include: intermediate MS Word, MS Excel and database; basic MS PowerPoint.


What Will Set You Apart:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or Economics plus 3 years of experience in Human Resources, Compensation Analysis, Job Evaluation, Market Pricing or Finance reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Consulting experience working for a major consulting house/firm.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Global Remuneration Professional (GRP).
  • Experienced in Lean Six Sigma problem solving methodologies or LSS certified.
  • ADP, Pay Factors/PayScale and SAP system experience.
  • Experience working with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference. Skilled in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Experience calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Experience applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Skilled in solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Skilled in interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Applies established procedures to situations that are non-routine in nature requiring some evaluation, critical thinking, originality or ingenuity.
