Under general supervision the Warehouse Operator 1 operates a clamp or forklift to performs various clamp and fork driving duties to include picking customer orders, loading and unloading trucks, putting away finished goods, scrubber sweeper including other duties as assigned. This position follows standard work and safety methods, practices, and procedures in support of an efficient and safe production environment.

Essential Functions
This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

  • Responsible for moving pallets of finished product to various work areas such as vans/flats, or to the appropriate warehouse locations.
  • Responsible for properly stacking product. 
  • Moves raw, packaging, or point-of-sale materials to designated locations.
  • Responsible for leaker pickup and other housekeeping tasks as necessary.
  • Performs flow rack transactions.
  • Picks product for sales orders.
  • Operates stretch wrapper.
  • Unloads curtain vans.
  • Responds and troubleshoots palletizer downtime.
  • Responsible for checking and insuring inventory accuracy utilizing the computerized inventory system.
  • Accurately scans product LPN’s, use query functionality, perform cycle counts, and other miscellaneous inventory adjustments.
  • Responsible for understanding and executing instructions on SAP work orders.
  • Responsible for inspecting packages (pallet patterns & print) to ensure compliance with work orders.
  • Performs glass storage.
  • Assists in training other members of the team including providing coaching and feedback, sharing troubleshooting tips and skills, and modeling trainer behaviors and competencies.
  • Maintains new skills and processes introduced for clamp driver area operation.
  • Certification and re-certification of attained Clamp Driver skills, duties and accountabilities including safety, and QA will be necessary.
  • Promotes/supports/exhibits the values of maintaining a positive environment, professionalism and embracing change.
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency, teamwork within a diverse team make-up, effective verbal/written communication, problem solving and decision-making in cross-functional interaction with Ops/Supply Chain personnel to achieve department goals in cost reduction and customer service.
  • Performs duties to maintain clean and safe work environment
  • Follows safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member's safety
  • Reads and understands technical training manuals; apply content to job functions and participate in re-writing and design of Gallo training manuals as required.
  • Demonstrates, adheres and reinforces company safety and quality policies and work practices during the performance of your job duties.
  • Support and makes continuous improvement recommendations to management.
  • Demonstrates ability to multi-task
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus previous forklift, clamp lift or heavy machinery operations experience.
  • Required to comply with company GMP policies.
  • Required to work overtime as needed.
  • Required to work any shift as needed.
  • Required to be at least 18 years of age.
  • Required to lift and move up to 60 lbs.
  • Required to pass in-house clamp and forklift skills tests to become a Certified Forklift and Clamp Driver
  • Must be able to re-certify Clamp Driver skills attained as required.
  • Required to be physically capable of executing all essential functions of the job.
  • Must be able to operate and utilize the computerized inventory system.
  • Accepts constructive feedback and alters behavior accordingly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of forklift or clamp driving experience. 
  • 1 year of warehouse experience.
  • Current Forklift or Clamp Certification.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience working in a production, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to: Frequently reaching with frequent torso and neck rotation and constant handling and grasping; Maximum lifting of 60 lbs; Occasionally standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling; Constant movements occur while operating the foot controls on the lifts on a constant basis; Hand and finger dexterity and gross manipulation occurs on a constant basis in terms of operating the knobs and controls on the lift; Constant sitting for the majority of the work shift in terms of driving the lift

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to the following:
Exposure to dust, fumes; The noise level in the work environment is usually loud; The employee will be working indoors and outdoors; during the winter months the temperatures are as low as 50 degrees and during the summer months as high as 100 degrees; The primary working surface is concrete; Exposure to clamp lifts, forklifts, pallet carts, pallet jacks.
