As a Seasonal Viticulture Tech with E. & J. Gallo Winery, you will under general supervision perform daily tasks at multiple vineyard sites throughout the growing season. You will have tasks that include pest and disease scouting, crop estimation, phenology scouting, data collection, vineyard sampling, plant water status evaluation and harvest. Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting research and production activities under the supervision of GVI, Grower Relations and Winegrowing Research personnel.

What you will do:

  • Conducts pests/disease scouting and irrigation monitoring.
  • Executes fruit and tissue sampling for chemical analyses.
  • Installation of Flow Meters, Soil Moisture sensors and other specialized equipment.
  • Observes and verifies vineyard development and canopy management activities.
  • Measures vine growth and development.
  • Observes vine physiology parameters, including leaf water potential measurements.

What you need:

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
  • Required lift and move 40 pounds.
  • Required to work in hot and dusty fields for prolonged periods of time.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to safely operate small vineyard vehicles such as ATVs.

What will set you apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture, Horticulture, Plant Science, Crop Science, Agricultural Science, Agriculture Business, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Engineering, Enology, Soil Science, Hydrology, Geography, Geographical Information Systems or Environmental Science; OR pursuing a bachelor degree or has an associate degree plus 2 years of work experience.
