SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision supports various phases of winemaking processes to include the care, maintenance, and sanitation of all equipment and facilities. Must adhere to all safety procedures, support quality and GMP standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Operates press controls and receiving equipment.
• Performs work order entry into WineManager and Barrel Tracking.
• Maintains housekeeping, sanitation, GMP and PPE requirements.
• Engages in red and white juice/wine racking.
• Fills wine barrels, barrel topping, barrel SO2 addition, barrel ingredient additions and barrel out and back duties.
• Supports receiving and shipping activities.
• Performs filtration set-up, sanitation and operation (crossflow filter).
• Engages in basic bottling line functions as needed.
• Works safely while completing all assigned tasks; reports any observed unsafe acts or conditions.
• Remains alert at all times; reports any observed problems promptly to the management team.
• Drives a forklift and operates warehouse systems.
• Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution plus 2 years of wine production experience.
• Required to roll and move 70 pound wine barrels and lift product and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Required to wear a respirator when necessary.
• Required to undertake forklift certification onsite.
• Required to be 21 years of age or older.
• Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
• Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
• Experience showing versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
• Experience using a computer.
• Participates in training and work in all areas for winery operations, including bottling, barrel warehouse, cellar and harvest roles.
• Required to work at heights of 45 feet, on tank catwalks inspecting wine surfaces when necessary.
• The position requires availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution plus 4 years of wine production experience.
• Possession of Gallo Winery Technician 1B experience.
• Knowledge of basic winemaking.
• Experience understanding, giving or, following written and verbal instructions.
• Skilled in written and oral communication.

Inside/Outside conditions: During crush, work estimated 50% - 100% outside with weather of varying types. Wet/Slippery conditions vary and may include work in rain.
Required to work at heights of 45 feet, on tank catwalks inspecting wine surfaces when necessary. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Occasionally engages in work functions where ear protection is required.
