The Heavy Equipment Team Lead will be responsible for individual and team development, quality performance, cost parameters based on metrics, and service to customers (internal and external). Responsible for leading a team of individuals who possess varying levels of experience and education. Assists in assessing and developing project plans and obtains approval to address aging ranch infrastructures such as roads, drainage systems andirrigation main lines Works cross functionally with other departments to execute operations initiatives.

What You Will Do:

  • Communicates and interprets overall organizational directives and applies them to the Team and individual objectives.
  • Acts as liaison, representing the Team in general and interfacing with the rest of the organization.
  • Assigns, monitors and reviews the progress and accuracy of assigned work.
  • Supervises and oversees the day to day operations of the heavy equipment team.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel including contractors, to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Oversees, monitors and approves work performed by consultants and sub-contractors.
  • Recommends and provides input to management regarding improvements and modifications in thesequence of operations, equipment utilization and related matters.
  • Estimates personnel needs and ensure adequate staffing in order to meet pre-established completion dates.
  • Oversees the coordination, scheduling, and monitoring of equipment repairs ensuring work is conducted in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Orders and procures all parts, materials, services, and supplies needed to repair and maintain department equipment.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and scheduling of the preventative maintenance of department vehicles and equipment.
  • Addresses aging ranch infrastructures like roads, drainage systems and irrigation main lines.
  • Assist and comply with the New Waste Discharge Regulations (WDR) Storm water management requirements, may require significant vineyard road work and sedimentation mitigation in both Napa & at Monte Rosso.
  • Assist with Fire Prevention on Gallo Properties.
  • Sets goals and objectives with and for team members to support business and personal development and ensure achievement.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree, plus 1 year of production/operations, construction management, land development, heavy equipment, natural hazard prevention and mitigation or agricultural experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility OR High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus 5 years of production/operations, construction management, land development, heavy equipment, natural hazard prevention and mitigation or agricultural experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Soil Science, Forestry, Engineering, or Construction Management, plus 2 years of production/operations, construction management, land development, heavy equipment, natural hazard prevention and mitigation or agricultural experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus 6 years of production/operations, construction management, land development, heavy equipment, natural hazard prevention and mitigation or agricultural experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience
  • Experience with Lean practices.
  • Knowledge and experience of Heavy Equipment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Experience with environmental, health and safety in a heavy equipment, land or vineyard management environment.
