Under minimal supervision, responsible for compiling, analyzing and interpreting results in the routine and non-routine chemical and physical analysis required for quality control, winemaking, environmental monitoring research and the evaluation of products and processes. Supports regional North Coast bottling quality assurance activities by tracking and reporting quality assurance related data. Generates reports that help with supporting quality and food safety objectives. Assists in identifying quality issues and provides input on future mitigation.

What you'll do:


  •    Performs routine data analysis in trends, recognizes unexpected deviations, performs minor trouble shooting, and alerts supervisor and/or customer (Operations, Winemaking) of all findings. 
  •     Acts as HACCP designee; collects data, tracks metrics consisting of HACCP log completion, defects, test results, torque, fill volume performance, and rinser validation performance. Reports findings to supervisor and initiates hold requests for non-conforming product.
  •     Operates laboratory instruments such as an auto-titrator, refractometer, densitometer meter, gas chromatographs, infrared analyzers, balances, spectrophotometers, and other instruments as required to perform duties.
  •     Provides support in response tracking, defect tracking system, product quality control, materials control (packaging and ingredient traceability) and inventory disposition monitoring

What you need:

  •     Bachelor’s degree with a combined 12 college coursework units of chemistry, biology, and/or microbiology plus 1 year of laboratory experience or completed a Gallo Internship; OR Associate of Science degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, Fermentation Science, Enology/Viticulture, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or Biological Engineering plus 3 years of laboratory, production, or quality assurance experience. 
  •     Required to travel to various winery locations throughout California.

  •     Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, Fermentation Science, Enology/Viticulture, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or Biological Engineering plus 2 years of quality control, laboratory, or production experience in a food manufacturing environment reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
