Summary

Under direct supervision, the A/R Clerk performs clerical duties related to processing various accounts receivable and provides general accounting support. The A/R Clerk is also responsible for posting, reconciling and keeping the customer A/R records current.

 

 

 

Essential Functions
This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

  • Reconciles customer accounts receivable on a daily basis.
  • Applies remittance received by EDI (Electronic Data Interface), ACH (Automated Clearing House), lock box deposits and US mail. Prepares and enters journal entries, as necessary, in connection with accounting for statewide Distributors.
  • Researches any short payments or overpayments and works with Customer Service Chain Rep to determine accuracy and corrects as needed.
  • Executes and ensures accurate transfers of payments to appropriate distributor.
  • Communicates with customers both in writing and orally to follow up and complete accounts receivable reconciliation.
  • Researches and maintains customer files as necessary.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 3 years of accounts receivable or accounting experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Associate’s degree plus 1 year of accounts receivable or accounting experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications at a basic level.
  • Skilled in the use of Ten-key adding machine.
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree plus 3 years of accounts receivable or accounting experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 5 years of accounts receivable or accounting experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong follow through skills.
  • Good communication and telephone skills.
  • Good problem solving and organization skills.
  • Beverage industry experience, liquor industry a plus.
