As a Color Technology Manager, you will have the opportunity to formulate, develop and lead the commercialization of new products and processes that strive to meet customer application requirements, and contribute to the growth of Cal Color. In addition, you will provide support to sales, marketing, research and operations teams to enable a better understanding of the needs and requirements of current and potential customers.
What You Will Do
- Develops, recommends, and implements improvements and modifications in the sequence of operations, equipment utilization and related matters.
- Provides technical and research assistance and application support to potential and existing customers and strategic partners. Presents findings to upper management and/or customer.
- Develops and commercializes new products and experimental blends to support portfolio expansion and customer specific requests.
- Designs, implements, and oversees experiments and trials for new products/process development.
- Independently conducts research, collects experimental data, and analyzes and interprets results.
- Identifies and acts upon opportunities to develop and apply new technologies that contribute to the improvement of commercial products and processes.
- Attends industry technical seminars to further Cal Color competitive advantage.
- In conjunction with Sales, Marketing, and Corporate R&D, finds product solutions for Market opportunities by conducting research and analytical studies to develop, design or create specifications for natural color products.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Enology, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology or related field plus 6 years of food/beverage R&D experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include supervisory experience; OR Master’s degree and Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Enology, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology or related field plus 4 years of food/beverage R&D reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include supervisory experience.
- Experience in the use of MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint.
- Experience in reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Enology, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology or related field plus 8 years of food/beverage R&D experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include supervisory experience; OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Enology, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology or related field plus 6 years of food/beverage R&D experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include supervisory experience; OR PHD in Food Science with 2 years of food/beverage R&D experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include supervisory experience.
- Skilled in reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Experience writing speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Experience effectively present information to top management and boards of directors.
- Skilled in applying advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- Skilled in the use of MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
- Experience with high-speed packaging equipment.
- Skilled in applying mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, capability, sigma level, and factor analysis.
- Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Experience interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Compensation:
- Hiring Salary Range Posted: $98,000 - $147,000 or set rate listed as $1.00 - $1.00
- Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
