Are you passionate about food and beverage new product development and have an eye for detail? As a Color Lab Technician at California Natural Color, you will support the product development team by providing general routine assistance and analysis in the lab and application kitchen. You will conduct physical and chemical analysis of grape juice concentrates and colors and support the development of applications to demonstration our ingredients. Your work will help us grow and be a solution provider to our customers.
What You’ll Do
- Assists in the evaluation of new products and experimental blends by running analysis, supporting experiments, and making food and beverage application prototypes.
- Performs routine analysis utilizing appropriate distillation, titrimetric, colormetric and instrumental methods supporting product development.
- Assist in providing technical and application support to the sales team.
- Operates, calibrates, and maintains laboratory instruments such as an auto-titrator, refractometer, density meter, ion specific electrodes, spectrophotometer, balances, turbidimeter, and other instruments as required to perform duties.
What You Need
- Associate's degree with a minimum of 20 units of completed college level chemistry, biology, microbiology, food science, engineering or related courses; OR High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus 2 years of chemistry, microbiology, food science or related laboratory experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
- Required to lift and carry cases of product that can weigh up to 50 pounds.
- Required to conduct work at extreme heights.
- Required to comply with company GMP Policies.
- Required to be at least 18 years of age.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
What Will Set You Apart
- Bachelors of Science degree in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Viticulture/Enology, or Microbiology; OR High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus 4 years of chemistry, microbiology, food science or related laboratory experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
- Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Experience speaking before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Compensation:
- Set rate listed as $21.93 - $29.62 / hour.
- Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
