SUMMARY

Under immediate supervision by their shift Team Leader, the Seasonal Mustline Operator’s primary responsibility is to insure that the specified grapes are going into the correct tank. The Must Line Operator also works with the fermentation area to ensure the throughput to the gravity drain is within yield and acquires gauges from the fermentation area tanks.

You must be available to work the full Harvest Season which runs from June - November.

COMPENSATION: $18.53/hr

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Completes all paperwork in a clear, legible manner.
  • Knows valve operation and possibilities of various flow directions of all must lines.
  • Insure tank is secured.  Verifies the designated crush tank is, in fact, receiving the proper grape type and that there are no leaks into other crush tanks upstream from the receiving tank.
  • Sets all valves for each program prior to any crushing into that program.
  • Monitors the levels of all tanks receiving must by periodically doing a visual level check.
  • Monitors the operation of circulators for the fermenters and report circulators that are plugged or not operating to the Fermenter Supervisor.
  • Monitors the must tubs for the Crushers and notify Crusher Supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Completes periodic checks of which tanks the must is going into and check for color determination.
  • Becomes familiar with all Crush Tank locations and what programs they are associated with.  Keeps aware of the programs in all the crush tanks on a daily basis.
  • Collects gauges for the fermentation area.
  • Manages the throughput and yields of the gravity drains in the fermentation area, ensuring that the flow that the gravity drain operator is controlling is in line with the required yield.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness. 
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Skilled in reading, writing, and understanding the English language.
  • Experience working with others and maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Skilled in computing basic math problems involving fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Required to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to work any shift.
  • Required to work overtime if necessary.
  • The position requires seasonal availability for a seven day work week (8 - 12 hours per day).
  • Required to comply with company GMP Policies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus, but not required.

  • Required to work at extreme heights on the Fermenter tank tops and in fairly small areas.
  • Required to utilize catwalks to perform work.
  • Employees must be physically capable of working in any of the job tasks within the winery.
  • Required to work at heights and in fairly small areas.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, handling and grasping, twisting/turning, repetitive bending up to 50 pounds.
  • Proper “stand up” lifts of 50 pounds.
