Join our dynamic team as a Quality Engineer and play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality assurance. Under general supervision, you will apply and enforce quality systems, acting as a key liaison to align quality assurance objectives consistently. You will support supplier quality performance as specified in contract agreements, Gallo policies, and brand protection expectations, driving continuous improvement and innovation.

 

In this role, you will implement operations policies and strategies to meet corporate quality standards, and act as the primary contact for quality and food safety issues with specified suppliers. You will conduct audits, manage corrective actions, and regularly update Quality and Operations management. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the Food Safety Management System to achieve and retain FSSC certification, leading monthly Food Safety Team meetings, and conducting annual Management Reviews.

 

You will manage non-conforming products, facilitate training on quality and food safety topics, perform root-cause analysis, and apply statistical techniques to sampling protocols. Regular quality reviews and the development of assurance reports and scorecards will also be part of your role. You will lead or participate in team projects, support supplier quality improvement initiatives, and execute qualifications to ensure brand protection and specification conformance.

 

Your duties will extend to participating in food safety and quality audits, supporting onsite production, recommending specification revisions, and formulating quality control procedures. You will drive cost-saving solutions, engage in risk management activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. You will also implement technology improvements, monitor project goals, and solve technical problems.

What You Will Need:

 

  • Bachelor's degree, Food Science, Enology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology plus 2 years of quality assurance/quality control, production, operations, winemaking, or engineering experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility. OR Associates degree, Food Science, Enology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology plus 4 years of quality assurance/quality control, production, operations, winemaking, or engineering experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility. OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of quality assurance and food safety experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Research and problem-solving skills
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. What Will Set You Apart: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, plus 1 year of quality assurance or operations management experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility.
  • Experience auditing food safety or quality systems.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Lead Auditor certification on a GFSI scheme (BRC, SQF, IFS, etc.), FSSC 22000 preferred .
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated team building, leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrated use of root cause analysis or Lean tools.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Experience making effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
  • Skilled in applying principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Skilled in applying mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, or factor analysis.
  • Experience building relationships and influencing organizational functions such as Operations, Engineering, Supplier Development, and Supply Chain.
  • Skilled in the use of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level; additionally, experienced in LiveLink, Minitab, WineManager, and LIMS.
  • Experience with Food and Beverage industry best practices, FDA regulations, and quality systems.
  • Experience effectively responding to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
  • Excellent organization and negotiation skills.
  • Experience handling multiple projects and effectively managing timelines.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQE/CQA Certifications.

Compensation:

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $54,810.00 - $82,170.00 / year
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
