Senior Analyst-Category Development - This position will be based in Charlotte, NC and requires regular travel within your assigned territory. Occasional travel to company sites may be required as needed.

 

Are you passionate about wine and spirits and adept at transforming data into strategic insights? We are seeking a dynamic Senior Analyst-Category Development to join our team. In this role, you will analyze market information and provide insights that support strategic planning for an assigned product category. You will be responsible for comprehensive data analysis, identifying key industry trends, and uncovering opportunities to drive success in the wine and spirits sector.

 

You will leverage your advanced knowledge of databases and software programs such as IRI, ProSpace, Spectra, Nielsen, SMIS, and chain data to support customer development teams. Staying abreast of the latest trends, you will help establish best practice methodologies and continuously recommend improvements. As a leader in the development of "Plan-O-Grams," you will guide space management planners and develop merchandising strategies using insights from various analytical teams and third-party sources.

 

Your analytical support will include creating scorecards, performing market analysis, and generating sales data and forecasting reports. You will present your findings to senior leadership with recommendations for product mix, distribution strategy, pricing, promotional plans, and in-store shelf placement or merchandising activities. Collaborating with business partners, you will identify gaps in analytical processes and work with various teams to address them.

 

Managing category development processes and overseeing project timelines, you will also provide training to junior staff and sales personnel. Partnering with the COE Director on special projects, you will participate in new item presentations, commerce marketing presentations, and annual business reviews. You will control and monitor business expenses while embracing innovation and demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset, driving future-focused change.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of sales or category development experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Associate’s degree plus 5 years of sales or category development experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 7 years of sales or category development experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Skilled in the use and application of data and data tools-IRI, Scan data, Nielsen, Household Panel, Spectra, sales data, Trade Dimensions, consumer data, MS Access and other query tools.
  • Computer skill requirements include: intermediate MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.
  • Required to obtain Liquor License as required by state/locality.
  • Required to travel by air and car as part of job duties.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What You Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food & Consumer Product Goods or Food Marketing plus 5 years of sales or category development experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of Gallo winery sales or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales or category development experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • 3 years Gallo Category development experience.

Compensation:

  • Hiring salary range posted: $36.99 - $55.53 / hourly
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
