As a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic with E. & J. Gallo Winery, you will be responsible for building maintenance service calls, preventative maintenance (PM), routine equipment checks, and special projects as assigned.  You will perform building maintenance on three sites for the winery a ensuring that maintenance is achieved at lowest cost consistent with service standards and the highest possible quality. Additionally, you will serve as a lead mechanic providing guidance and training to lower level mechanic.

What you will do

  • Performs PM duties on facility mechanical equipment such as evaporative cooling tower, chillers, boilers, pumps, fans, heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, refrigeration systems, HVAC control systems.
  • Coordinates maintenance operations with the production, warehousing, and offices areas of the winery.
  • Monitors and reviews the progress and accuracy of assigned work.
  • Participates in department and intradepartmental planning teams and works cross-functionally.
  • Performs daily and weekly routine building maintenance equipment checks ensuring that equipment and various heating/cooling, refrigeration systems are performing to specified standards.
  • Makes necessary repairs, replacements and adjustments to equipment as required; evaluates, revises/updates equipment and system checks.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of material and equipment during execution of repairs.
  • Balances maintenance planning efforts with daily maintenance demands.
  • Performs routine and non-routine building maintenance service calls; conducts repairs, adjustments or replacements throughout the winery.
  • Troubleshoots problem situations and logs service calls.

What you need

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or production maintenance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Associate's degree/Certificate of completion from an accredited industrial trade program plus 4 years of maintenance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR completion of a technical military school/certification plus 4 years of maintenance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to work assigned shift (day, swing, and graveyard) and weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Available to attend classes, seminars or technical trainings to stay current on activities related to building maintenance.
  • Provide the following hand tools: 3/8 in. and ½ in. socket sets, screwdriver set, allen wrenches, combination wrenches (to 1 inches), and Hammers.
  • Required to lift and move up to 75 pounds; lift and carry 50 pounds up flights of stairs and ladders.
  • Comfortable with climbing ladders, working on building rooftops and crawling through tight spaces (e.g. attics and basements).
  • Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers.
